HOUSE OF GABBEH
A Gabbeh rug is a distinctive type of rug known for its unique blend of simplicity, abstract designs, and thick, plush pile. Gabbehs are almost exclusively made from hand-spun wool, often sourced from weavers’ own sheep. The colors are typically derived from natural, plant-based dyes, resulting in rich, earthy tones. They have a coarser weave and a lower knot density which contributes to their raw ‘primitive’ look and feel. While deeply rooted in tribal tradition, the simple and abstract nature of Gabbeh designs makes them surprisingly versatile. They blend well with a variety of interior styles, from rustic and bohemian to modern and minimalist.
