HOUSE OF SULTANI
A Sultani rug is a type of hand-knotted rug that originated from the region of Sultanabad (now Arak) in Persia, Iran. Modern Sultani rugs are mainly produced in Afghanistan but draw inspiration from 19th-century Persian Sultanabad designs. These rugs are known for their grand, all-over floral patterns with curvilinear designs. They often feature muted and softer color palettes. Sultani rugs are made with high-quality hand-spun wool, often from the Ghazni region. The name ‘Sultani’, meaning ‘of the Sultan’ or ‘royal’ reflects the grandeur and elegance associated with these designs.
